Borghese Galleries Tour

Tour Overview

  • 'The queen of private collections’ and ’one of Italy’s greatest treasures’ are the accolades given to the galleries created by the first modern private collector, Cardinal Scipione Borghese. He also commissioned possibly the greatest sculptor that mankind has known, Gain Lorenzo Bernini, to sculpt some simply astounding masterpieces. Works of Raphael, Titian, Rubens, Correggio, Caravaggio, Domenichino, Tintoretto are some of the few masters that comprise his broad collection of paintings and sculptures, along with the renown sculpture of Napoleon’s sister, Paulina Bonaparte, by Antonio Canova.

  • Visits are permitted every hour from 9 am till 5pm and last 2 hours, hence reservations are essential.

  • You can rent audios and visit it on your own, but naturally I would recommend going with a guide.  A guide will relate the mythological stories, biblical references and anecdotes that give a different feeling and character to your visit.
