Vatican City Tour

Tour Overview

  • Includes the Sistine Chapel, St. Peter’s Basilica, and the Masterpieces of the Vatican Museum.

  • Or a comprehensive tour of St. Peters Basilica for 3 to 3.5 hours which would include the Vatican Grottoes, and the Treasury Museum that has an admission fee of 8 euro.

  • Then after a lunch break or another day, the tour would continue with the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel.

  • St. Peter’s Basilica, the largest church in the world, surprisingly, has the most welcoming and warm exterior. The curved colonnade surrounding the piazza in front of St. Peter's Basilica gathers and shepherds visitors towards the church. Far from being imposing or intimidating, the homely and harmonious exterior of St. Peter’s draws us in - an impressive and touching feat for the world's largest church. In the piazza itself, before entering the basilica, the history of the Vatican will be unfurled.

Upon entering the basilica, visitors are immediately struck with wonder and amazement by all its sensual and majestic beauty.

The grandeur of the basilica is breathtaking, exquisitely adorned with swirls of colorful marble, bright gold, precious stones and pure white stone.

Surrounding the visitor are tall statues of humble saints, enormous allegorical figures gracefully poised on the edges of arches, exuberant cherubs holding medallions of popes, offering holy water and generally adding to the conviviality of the occasion. Your curiosity will be piqued wanting to know how everything came to be, why is it here and what does it all mean! And that is where we come in.

We will explain the symbolism, significance, the historical context of all that you see. Some of the greatest artists of the world have bestowed upon St. Peters their finest work, their last contribution to the world for the glorification of God and the salvation of souls. By doing so, they have left behind marks of their genius on the altars and aisles, and have humorously left behind stains of their humanness in its curves and corners. It is easy to miss the details: the personal accents of Popes, the dexterity of great artists and religious figures in high niches and chapels, but we will not neglect them for they are the part of the charm and treasure of this outstanding basilica.

  • The Vatican Museum is the next part of your visit. Here, the main objective of everyone’s journey is to see Michelangelo’s masterpieces in the Sistine Chapel—as it should be. However, the world-famous Vatican Museums, is also home to a vast array of the artistic heritage. Comprised of priceless collections of Greek and Roman statues, tapestries, paintings, frescoes, libraries, and mosaics, the museum is a treasure chest filled with beautiful memories of almost every historical period and great civilizations.

A guided visit is invaluable and indispensable in the Vatican Museum, a maze of superb artistic delights, housed in one of the largest museums in the world. The long corridors, sharp turns and misleading arrows can leave you lost, exasperated and frustrated, robbing more hours of your time and energy than you can care to spare - when on your own.

Hence, highly recommended is a human guide who can take you through the Palace, not museum, another reason to be accompanied, and whose explanations of the works of art, their significance, and unique characteristics that distinguish them either as a paradigm or an exception in their respective period, can be highlighted and fully explained.

The mystery and majesty of Vatican City fill all with awe and wonder.
